Investing to Grow.
In 1985, the second full year after ZS Associates officially began operations, the company doubled in staff, from 12 to more than two dozen. ZS outgrew the midnight computer runs to Northwestern’s computer center, so Andy and Prabha collateralized a $1 million IBM 3481 mainframe computer purchase with their homes. As a result, time requirements for data analytics were dramatically reduced. ZS moved to larger offices to accommodate the new computer as well as the growth in staff. That same year, the firm released the ZS Territory Optimizer (automated territory design software to complement the alignment view-and-refine capabilities of MAPS®).
By the end of the year, ZS had helped eight of the world’s ten largest pharmaceutical companies with sizing their sales forces and aligning territories in the USA, Canada, or Europe. The two-year-old, 25-person firm had by then worked on nearly 100 projects in a dozen countries.
ZS has consistently invested in people and technology to remain cutting edge, exceed client expectations, and sustain its growth trajectory.
