CADP CAMPUS TALK
I attended jp morgan CADP campus coffee talk back in SH in Sep. This event is on invitation basis. If you are top 4, finance major. The online application pass rate should be high. Also, Shangcai is in the list. The safest if you could find out alumni who is currently working with JP and ask for their attention on your application. The campus talk conveys following info.:
Goal: whole rounded banker and leader
Program: 2 years rotation and then deploy(domestic only now)
Program Boss: Stanley( an very kind guy with hong kong background, devoted to ops)
Rotations: 3 positions, each 8 mths
Offices: they listed quite a few. I only recalled some back, middle, and the only front office is global corporate banking aka. rm.
Overall Image: office located at nanjing west, very high big up. all furnitures and decorations are very heavy, epitomized by polished red wood and furry carpen.
Biz Intro: In US, they are the biggest retail banker and the most prestigious ib. Outside US, there is no retail biz. In china, they do almost anything but retail. The main biz is wholesale baking. They only cater for a list of LLC and MNC clients. they believe you should dig into one client and sell him all products possible when you have limited resources.
Others: good hours. Nice culture.
ONLINE APPLICATION
Just go to the websit and fill in your cv info, upload cv and cover letter. There was an oq about jp morgan in china. It should take some time but woud not be a challenge. Be careful not to make typos.
Did OT later after application deadline. It was SHL.
PHONE INTERVIEW
Once the ot passed, they send you email asking to fill in time slots for phone interview. Lots of people go invited. There are a handful of interviewers sitting in hk, sh and beijing calling those candidates. Mine is a third-yr gentleman from a similiar program. I was not very well prepared for lots of questions he popped out.
1. intro
2. project experience
3. teamwork experience
4. knowledge about banking
5. knowledge about jp morgan
6. critical thinking
etc.
interviewer is very nice and fun.
FACE TO FACE INTERVIEW
Just several days after the phone interview, face to face time slot choosing mail came. Later, formal invitation to f2f interview arrived.
The interview was arranged in Winland. The Beijing office shares the same style as Shanghai Office in decoration.
The interviewer was very nice, he did not follow a strict structure in questions. However, the same qualities should be showcased in your delivery of answers.
I did a self-intro first, later I talked about my internships. Then, the conversation somehow turned into very casual chitchat about differences between major foreign bank players culture and strategies. Then, I talked about my career plan and choice of back middle front offices. The time passed really fast. In the end, I asked him several questions about the biz. He was really nice to answer. I thought i asked a little bit too much.
ASSESSMENT CENTER(final round)
got a phone call at around 8 pm friday from hr confirming a time for ac, and then the official invitation mail finalizing deets.
Please be there on time, otherwise you will be marked and out. on time is defined as slightly earlier than they start registration.
AC takes the entire afternoon. Basically, it was a case interview. In a group of 6 people, we were assigned a case and discuss for 30min, then 10min Q&A, then 30 min for each of you to present group discussion results individually and review team performance and then the competency problems. in this part, only you and 4 assessers will be in the room.
our team 3 ppl from oversea schools and 3 from domestic top 2. I think in this kind of interview, it is really hard to fake. Maybe practicing would help, but you may not be aware of what they are looking for unless you have experience working in similiar working environment, or what it takes to fit into and succeed with their culture.
So, maybe just let the fate pick you.
That is everything so far.
Good luck to everyone.
