HSBC Technology and Services provides the technology infrastructure, systems, support and operations solutions essential to the success of our business in the Asia-Pacific region. The division integrates technological and organisational processes that deliver innovative business solutions, ensuring we keep up with the ever-changing operational demands of the global marketplace.
We are currently seeking high-performing students to join our Technology and Services divisions on a 12-month industrial placement, a scheme offering you the opportunity to find out whether a career in banking is a good fit for you, while putting you ahead of the competition in developing a strong foundation of technical knowledge and practical experience. During the placement you will experience the challenges of a technology driven business environment, contributing to meaningful projects that have a direct impact on our business success. Industrial Placement Trainees will gain direct work experience before graduation and include the possibility of fulfilling some academic requirements as part of the programme. Specific departments include the following:
HTS-GBM Technology
HSBC Technology and Services – Global Banking & Markets (HTS—GBM) is the gateway to the software solutions to our Global Banking and Markets businesses As a fast-paced and highly complex business that involves high-value transactions, the monitoring and technological operations are a massive responsibility in itself. This department demands proactive and extremely ambitious individuals who possess excellent problem solving abilities and a keen interest in emerging technologies.
Software Delivery
Software Delivery enables HSBC to remain at the leading edge in the development and delivery of high-quality, customised banking systems. The division provides tailored, cost-competitive and robust banking solutions and services that offer a flexible and scalable framework for delivering projects on time, within budget and at the highest quality, meeting both the current and future IT challenges facing the Group.
IT Operations
Within HSBC Technology and Services, IT Operations develops, implements and manages the IT infrastructure and supporting services that are critical to day-to-day operations for HSBC customer and user IT services, ensuring that issues are identified and resolved quickly to provide optimum levels of service with sufficient capacity, resilience and security. The division provides optimised and cost efficient network infrastructure, desktop equipment, hardware, system software, middleware and databases in support of the services that are delivered from its data centres over both voice and data networks to desktops and other end-user devices throughout our business.
Industrial Placement Trainees will benefit from a range of learning and development initiatives, including our monthly IT Speaker Series and Student Learn and Share Sessions, and a selection of performance management activities, all intended to ensure you continue developing to make the most of your talent.
On completion of your placement period, we will assess your performance and other qualities against our graduate recruitment criteria. Those with outstanding performance will be given priority for a permanent position upon graduation, subject to achieving a minimum of upper second-class honours.
Qualifications
Requirements
Second or penultimate year student of any discipline
Confident command of written and spoken English
Legal right to work in Hong Kong
Grade Point Average of 3.0 or above is preferred
Proficiency in any of the following programming languages C++, C#, Java, Visual Basics, SQL
Submission of a detailed cover letter, CV, university transcript, and public examination results (HKCEE/A Levels)
