After the second course in TE club, I just want to say thanks for the excellent course and your carefully preparation. The birthday party means a lot for all the TE members. To tell the truth, I have been deeply moved.
As a student in business school, I find a different knowledge system here. And after the consideration about the operation course, I try to share some opinions with TE and you. Like professor YE told us, the manufactures in China had the ability to copy the technology from the FDI. To TE, that’s a bad news. Maybe we can do nothing to stop this trend, as we all know, even in F1 competition the copy always happens. But in my mind, there are some solutions to strike back.
Come to the first stage. To most manufacture in China, low price will be the key successful factor in the market campaign. And in the competitive market, low price will help the company to enjoy the high market share. We also know that if you want to counter, you have to set the same kind product at a lower price. But this will lead the situation into worse one. Like the price competition of television happened in China. Because of the debit, a lot of companies bankrupted at that time. But when we think back, we will find that the multinational companies including SONY, SHARP have not reduced price of their product. Their promising quality and reputation make everyone trust that their price is reasonable. After the research of TE’s history and background, I trust that we can achieve the high margin of our sales with the right price even in the price competition. Maybe we can define the TE’s product as a kind of luxury in the electronic market.
Secondly, because of the lower price of some kinds of products, TE still have to face the fact that we will lose market share. To keep the market-leader position among global manufactures, R&D will be the soul of our company. But in current situations including financial crisis, increasing price of material, we don’t have an opportunity to raise the budget of R&D cost. So using the limited budget in efficient way will be the KSF now. With the education background, I cannot tell how to do that. But through the observation, I just want to recommend the members in TE club like KK, WENYI FAN and my team leader Frank. I trust their creativity, hardworking and intellectual hunger will make sense. As graduating students, their entrance will also reduce the labor cost, I guess.
Also we should make room for price decreasing, because of the lower purchasing power all over the world. Increasing our diversifications of our products to achieve economy scale may be a choice for us. Moving our facilities and factories to the place with low labor cost can also help us to make room. But this strategy will cost a lot. So we need to think it twice.
All above is based on my thinking, so the mistakes and drawbacks will appear somewhere in my article. Thank you for your time to read it.
