Innovation is the cornerstone of Procter & Gamble’s success. As the first company to establish an independent R&D division, P&G has consistently positioned R&D as the lifeline of its business development. Engaging more than 9,000 scientists around the world, the company holds more than 25,000 active patents.
P&G spends more than US$ 2.2 billion on R&D and innovation every year.
Our Beijing Innovation Center (BJIC) is with a registered capital of US$ 70 million and a total investment of US$ 80 million. It is a global state-of-the-art innovation center, with a strong focus on product development and innovation in fabric care, beauty care, hair care, oral care, feminine care, baby care, and snacks foods, responsible for the development of consumer products and enhance consumers’ experience of P&G products for Greater China, Asia, and the rest of the world.
Our goal is to understand the consumer better than anyone else and to develop technologies, products, packages and devices that best meet the needs of the consumers in Greater China, Asia and globally. To do so, R&D is divided into several main capabilities including Formula Design, Technology, Process Design, Product Research, Analytical, Clinical, Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs and Packaging & Device Development. All working together as a team towards one common goal: Improving the lives of the world`s consumers.
The Beijing Innovation Center currently employs 580 staff members, with diverse background of 16 nationalities, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Indonesia and India. Among them, more than 80 have doctorates and more than 120 hold masters degrees.
